Alouda (Mauritian Falooda)

Ingredients

  • Basil seeds (tukmaria)
    3 tbsp
  • Whole milk
    1 L
  • Condensed milkTheShop.mu
    100 ml
  • SugarTheShop.mu
    3 tbsp
  • Vanilla extractTheShop.mu
    1 tsp
  • Rose syrup or grenadineTheShop.mu
    4 tbsp
  • Agar-agar jelly cubes (optional)TheShop.mu
    100 g
  • Crushed ice for serving
    as needed

👨‍🍳How to cook

    Soak basil seeds in 200 ml water 20 minutes until they swell into a jelly.

    Mix milk with condensed milk, sugar and vanilla. Chill.

  3. 3

    In a tall glass: 1 tbsp rose syrup at the bottom, then crushed ice, basil seeds, jelly cubes, then chilled milk.

    Stir before drinking. Serve very cold.
